Activities has also been tailored to specific grades. As Career Coaches begin entering the high schools, ninth and tenth grade will be a primary focus. Ninth grade students will be introduced to goal setting, learning how to prioritize tasks. Students will be taught how to assess the importance of projects and understand the difference between what is urgent and what is important to map out day-to-day activities. Using this knowledge, students will be taught how to make short-term goals, measured by semesters or terms, and long-term goals, measured by the end of the year, using the S.M.A.R.T. strategy.
Tenth grade students will be taught situational intelligence, also known as emotional intelligence. Career Coaches will instruct students how to be aware in social interactions, so they can discern safe situations from harmful choices. Through building student’s confidence, Career Coaches will explain how to assertively communicate their boundaries to advocate for their best interests.
